Solar System is an educational and exploratory simulation game that allows you to explore the planets, moons, and celestial bodies of our solar system in an interactive 3D or 2D space environment.
The game combines genuine scientific accuracy with engaging interactive presentation. Scale models show the dramatic size differences between celestial bodies — Jupiter is 11 Earths wide; the Sun contains 99.86% of the entire solar system's mass.
Interactive features bring the solar system to life: clicking or hovering over planets reveals key scientific data (diameter, mass, distance from Sun, orbital period, number of moons, surface temperature). Orbital animations show the relative speeds of each planet's revolution around the Sun — Mercury completes an orbit in 88 days while Neptune takes 165 years.
Key Features:
- Progressive wave-based difficulty
- 3D visual presentation
- Instant browser play — no download needed
- Free to play on desktop and mobile
Getting Started:
Solar System is an exploration and learning simulation:
- Navigate the Solar System — Use movement controls or click-to-navigate to move through the interactive solar system model. The Sun sits at the center; planets orbit at their proportional distances.
- Select a Celestial Body — Click or tap any planet, moon, asteroid belt, or the Sun itself to select it and view detailed information.
- Read the Facts Panel — Selected bodies display a facts panel with key scientific data: diameter, mass, composition, temperature ranges, orbital period, distance from Sun, number of moons, and interesting facts specific to that body.
- Observe Orbital Motion — Watch the real-time (or time-accelerated) animation of planets orbiting the Sun. Notice how inner planets orbit much faster than outer planets — Mercury zips around the Sun while Neptune barely seems to move.
- Explore Moon Systems — Click on major planets to zoom in and explore their moon systems. Gas giants have fascinating, diverse moon collections.
- Adjust Time Speed — Use the time control to accelerate orbital motion, compressing years of orbital movement into seconds for dramatic visual demonstration of orbital mechanics.
- Quiz Features (where available) — Some versions include quiz questions to test your solar system knowledge based on the facts presented during exploration.
- Scale Exploration: Toggle realistic scale mode to experience the true size and distance relationships — you may be surprised how empty space truly is at accurate scale.
Desktop Controls:
- Click a planet or moon — selects it and opens the information panel
- Click-drag the view — pans around the solar system
- Scroll wheel — zooms in and out
- Click Sun — returns to the full system overview
- Click time controls — adjusts orbital animation speed
Mobile Controls:
- Tap a planet — selects and displays information
- Two-finger drag — pan the solar system view
- Pinch in/out — zoom control
- Tap time controls — adjust animation speed
Pro Tip: Information Panels: - Close an information panel by clicking elsewhere or pressing Escape - Some panels have multiple tabs (Overview, Atmosphere, Moons) — explore all tabs for complete information
Tips for Beginners:
- Use the time acceleration feature to observe multiple full orbital cycles simultaneously. Notice that inner planet orbital speeds are dramatically faster — this pattern (closer = faster) is explained by Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion.
Advanced Strategies:
- If the game includes quiz features, explore each planet thoroughly before attempting questions. The quiz typically draws from the displayed facts — the more detail you absorbed during exploration, the better your quiz performance.
High-Score Tip: Quiz Strategy: - If the game includes quiz features, explore each planet thoroughly before attempting questions.
